About Eytan Ulisse Ballerini – Video Editor & Colorist

I started at nine, with my dad’s tape camera and a shelf of toys to animate frame by frame. Then came school-trip videos stitched together from photos and questionable music, and later, at 23, weekends filming nightlife while I studied graphic design at the Accademia di Belle Arti Santa Giulia in Brescia, where editing slowly took over everything else.

The turning point came during a short internship at Albatros. Watching Luca, a senior editor, at work, I thought: this is what I want to do.

In Milan I spent five years at Jinglebell and four at Cloverthree Film as the only video person on staff. Sound had its own specialist; everything else on screen went through me: editing, motion, color, delivery. When something broke the night before a deadline, it was mine to fix. That’s where I learned to find a way around every problem, and to sit in the room with directors and agencies, knowing when to defend an idea and when to let it go.

At YAM112003, a Milan creative agency, I learned the other half of the job: agency pace, tight turnarounds and working as part of a team.

Since 2024 I’ve been freelance, cutting and grading commercials, digital content, music videos and documentaries for brands like Aldi, Amplifon, Alpro, Sisal, Prada and Emporio Armani.

Editing is where I find my flow: hours disappear and the story just clicks. Color is a different kind of love, slower and more stubborn. A grade never quite feels finished to me; there’s always one more pass I want to make. Maybe that’s why I keep at it, grading music videos and fashion shows as a freelancer and assisting colorist Giorgia Meacci. And whenever I cut something, part of me already wants to grade it.

I can work alone, but I’d rather not. It takes a village to make something good.
